New X1 reviews out

// October 13th, 2008 // X1 NEWS

If you still have some burning questions about the X1, check out this new review on Tracy and Matt’s blog. It has answered some of the questions we have been noticing in your comments, so it could prove pretty useful.

Also here is a review by Paul O’Brien at Modaco, which interestingly has also recently set up a dedicated X1 discussion area.

What is the actual RAM in the device?

    Matt:
The X1 has 384 MB RAM but you’ll note that the device information screen says 256MB. This is because the X1 also has an additional 128MB RAM that’s only accessible to the CPU/3D chip.

Is this true? I don’t think Matt can know this (128MB RAM for CPU/3D) by the normal review.

What is all the fuss about, this blog site and all the phony excitement?
We still cannot buy the thing in the UK Europe or USA yet!

And no one from Sony Ericsson has the balls to come forward and clear up the statement that their product manger made in their waste of space web cast launch as to the the actual amount of RAM in the device he said the X1 had 384Mb, Yet the best this blog can do to address the question is pass us to an external blog!

Your making all the same mistakes you made with the P990i again Sony Ericsson

I agree with the above comment, this phone is going to be old hat by the time it actually does get released in the uk! I’m in the same boat as countless many others by thinking “shove the X1″ there is so many better phones on the horizon!

Guys, As I have said in my other comments, I liked the P990i as it was but hated it for the lack of commitment from SE (not real version upgrade, no much support). The new X1 is supposed to be my new mobile phone but with the launch date of Sep 30 and no phone in UK and Germany till date, I gave up on SE. I have bought the iPhone 3G for 615 Euros (which apparently is the lost money for SE) and I am really happy with the iPhone. Now I understand what the hype is all about..

My contract came up for renewal in June, slowly my p990 started to develop issues, I waited and waited and waited and now, after the fiasco of the ‘release date’ I have given up and moved to O2 and got myself an iPhone 3G.
I dont believe that the X1, which i was waiting for so faithfully, is going to be that great any more, there are similar phones all over the place. Also word on the street is that future xperia phones are ditching windows, which already sounds like there are going to be issues with this one.
SE, you guys let me down, its rubbish. No wonder profits are down.

I’m still holding my breath. They said they are going to announce a release date on Nov. 3rd. How do you give a release date for a release date?! I just hope they don’t delay the X1 for next year. If they do then they just lost another potential customer.

Hi, I am real hard core fan of Sony Erickson. Now i am using k790i, i am all most done with that and waiting for x1 for 7 long months but still not able to get it .any one please tell me when it is going to release any where in the world so that i can get it. I am just getting bored of the announcements made by SE and i am not able to wait any more for this. by this kind of attitude these SE guys are making to think about this brand and its models in a bad way………….

Hi to everyone who is ditching the X1, yep, with you all on that, Vodafone told me their release date would be the 19th, I quired this as its a Sunday, I rang the Sony E Shop yesterday lunch time, 17th asking to buy one of these phones and THEY told me that I could put my name down, so that I could be contacted by Sony “WHEN” it comes in!!!!!
So the X1 isn’t even with Sony E shops yet, so if thats the case then no mobile provider will have it either! The release date for Orange is Jan 0, I nearly fell through the floor! I wish someone at Sony Ericsson would be upfront and totally honest to all of US out there who with the a little honesty may possibly change their mind on walking to someone new! Who can guarantee their product on time!!!!! I have been with S E for many years and had many different handset from camera to music and was so please when they came up with the WM one as that is what I have decided on now. But I am so fed up with waiting and listening to lie after lie that I am now looking at the Touch Pro of Touch HD my contract is also up for renewal and the world is now my oyster so Good bye Sony Ericsson hello someone new. I hope that with the credit crunch and many losted FANS you don’t suffer to much.

absolutely true for the above comments….
maybe sony shouldn’t have shown us the phone at the beginning of the year if it is not even close to finish…. i am also very disappointed to the marketing too, seems like sony doesn’t care about their costumer. This suppose to be the highlight of the year, however not much people got the phone after the “announced” release date. Just don’t understand what the heck they are thinking.
Hope some sony manager saw our comments…

I waited for the phone for over a year. Things kept getting pushed back and pushed back. Then, when they finally released it in November, you couldn’t get a phone in the USA. Even if you could manage to buy a phone from an Online retailer, it was going to cost $800 USD. REDICULOUS!!!

I finally gave in. I didn’t want to. I liked my previous SE phones and wanted to stay with SE. I liked the look and functionality of the X1, but the rollout and marketing of this phone sucks.

I bought an iPhone3G in January. I love it! For anyone that likes music, video, or games, I don’t think there is a better phone on the market. I am not an Apple guy, which is why I resisted buying for soooo long, but the iPhone speaks for itself. It’s simply fun and easy to use, and $299 for their 16GB model…you can’t beat that. I’ve got like 7 pages of Apps now — never a dull moment.

I wish SE the best and hope that they can pick themselves up and get their act together. The X1 looked good. I want someone other than Apple to have the best phone on the market, but that hasn’t happend yet. SE – If you’re going to compete with Apple’s technology, you also have to compete with their pricing — an $800 SE phone that is neck and neck in look and features with a $300 iPhone puts SE on the losing end everytime.

After having four Sony Ericsson’s, I have to say that I am disappointed with the X1. I got mine two months ago and the paint is coming of the casing at the back. Also, the phone freezes and is slower than my Nokia.

I would not recommend this phone to anybody. You can have the same business features on most business phones, like Blackberry or Nokia, but with much better quality finishes.

I lodged a complaint with Sony Ericsson South africa, but they don’t really seem interested in my plight. Cheers Sony E. you will never get another cent out of me.
