New panels available

The first new panels (facebook and windows live,) for the xperia are now available for download from www.sonyericsson.com/fun. We’ve been trying them out over the last week or so and so far so good – windows live panel lets you integrate your hotmail, msn messenger and live search into the handset, whilst the facebook panel provides a custom interface between the handset and the site.

Two of the facebook features are particularly noteworthy – you can use the phone number field of your friends’ profiles as a kind of subsidiary phonebook and call them from within the panel, which is very cool. Also, the photos page gives you a one click upload and allows you to open the camera without leaving the panel.

We’ll have a demo video of all this up tomorrow.

    Hey..I downloaded and installed this facebook panel from the SE page itself. I installed it on the storage card, signed in, updated status, etc. and finally when I clicked on the “Panel” button to change the panel, my cell hung up. So then I uninstalled it, and installed it on the main memory, but the problem continues… any solutions?

    Hey, I thought I was really fortunate to have a SonyStyle store a few minutes from my house. I’ve had 11/28 marked on my calendar for a while, but now they don’t know when they’ll actually have any Xperias for sale, so I couldn’t wait any longer and bought a Fuze from my local AT&T store yesterday.

    Hi,
    I can logon to facebook via opera but when I enter my username/password in the facebook panel I just get a logon failed message. Any ideas?

    I and many other people are having the exact same issue with the facebook panel….it works fine until you click the panels button and attempt to change to another panel….your X1 then hangs…..hopefully they will bring out a newer version soon.

    hi, just bought my xperia and installed a 4gb memory. im wondering why it became slow and most of the time hanged up..why? any solutions?

    You should move your “my documents” folder to your storage card.
    There are several procedures on the internet for it.
    It free’s up quite some ram memory for you and made my x1 really fast.

    with my X1, I prefer opening Facebook from Opera than the Facebook Panel I downloaded
